Frequently asked questions
If you can't find what you're looking for, email our support team and we'll be happy to help.
Why is my citation count different from Google Scholar, ResearchGate, CrossRef, and other sources?
Other than Google Scholar, PUBLIO only counts citations from peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, and conference proceedings. PUBLIO also deduplicates counts where citations are listed from a book and a sub chapter in the book, for example.
What if my publications are not listed on my ORCID profile?
No problem, you can add them manually to your profile using the publication DOI.
Is PUBLIO free to use?
PUBLIO operates on a low monthly subscription model. We're confident you'll find value in our service, but if you're not satisfied, you can request a refund.
Can I track books and conference publications?
No, currently PUBLIO only allows tracking of peer-reviewed journal publications.
How does PUBLIO source its citation data?
PUBLIO aggregates citation data from multiple trusted academic databases including Crossref, OpenAlex, and others. This ensures comprehensive coverage across disciplines and international journals.
Can I export my citation data and reports?
Yes, you can export your citation data, metrics, and reports in various formats including CSV, PDF, and BibTeX for use in your CV, grant applications, or other academic documents.
How frequent are updates to citation counts?
The database is updated once per week, and updates are sent out in a weekly interval, too.
What do I need to sign up for PUBLIO?
You can sign up with either your ORCID iD or the DOI of at least one published article. If you use a DOI, PUBLIO will help you build your profile from there.
Does PUBLIO track citations from international and non-English journals?
Yes, PUBLIO tracks citations from journals worldwide, regardless of language. Our database includes publications from over 100 countries and in multiple languages.
